Good ole Great Clips

Great Clips. Oh what a place. I'd have to say that indeed it is a very awkward place. They play 101.3, have outdated hairstyle magazines, and hairdressers who don't talk to you. All in all, yes, an awkward place. Anyways, today I was in desperate need of a trim so I thought I would make a quick stop in Great Clips. Well of course, I walk in and there is one, yes, only one other person getting a haircut. Awesome. Plus 2 awkward points. Well the other guy in there is sitting there getting his haircut. Silently. So I sit down and the lady starts to cut my hair. Silently. Well to add on to this, the other guy getting his haircut was behind me so we made some eye contact through the mirror. Plus 5 awkward points. I like talking so it kind of bothered me that there was silence.  I mean come on, at least some small talk. I thought in my head of something to say but my best idea was, "Well how do you like working here?"  I decided that it was a dumb question and the obvious answer would be no. I mean who's dream job is working at a low end hair cuttery? Well eventually she does talk. Only to ask me if I just got off work. I'm 17 lady, I don't have a full time job.  So I respond by telling her I am in school so that's where I went today.  Well she still doesn't understand how old I am because she asks me what I am studying. I tell her that I am actually in high school and she is in shock, and low and behold, this is the end of my haircut conversation.  So since it is once again silent, I have time to think and I started to think about how many people think that I am older than I am. I'm talking like just about everyone I meet thinks I am older. I've gotten used to it, but this whole job thing today in the mixture of awkwardness threw me off.  People think I am older than my sister who is FOUR YEARS OLDER than me. I think its getting out of hand. Oh my yes it is.  It's awesome how apparently I am aging so quickly. Well one day, dearest hairdresser, I am going to make up how old I am so that I don't have to deal with all the shock.  I will be 21, graduated from ODU and beginning a job as a dentist assistant.
